FRESNO STATE MCJ WEEK: MULTIMEDIA PRODUCTION DAY VIDEO & PHOTO COMPETITONS

The theme for Central Valley high school students will be to create a 1-2 minute video about a social issue affecting the Central Valley with a call-to-action. The photo competition will have the same theme and students will be able to submit either one photo or a collage of photos.

The theme for current Fresno State students will be to create a 1-2 minute video of what makes the Central Valley great. The photo competition will have the same theme and students will be able to submit one photo or a collage of photos.

Participants will be judged based on their high school student category or current Fresno State student category. The winners of the competitions will be announced at the MCJ Week: Multimedia Production Day event at the Satellite Student Union on Monday, April 20, 2015, 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Recognition and prizes will be awarded to the winners of the competition. In addition, MCJ students will have the opportunity to enter their video in the MCJ Showcase event that will take place on April 30.

 

Contest Rules & Guidelines for High School Students

  1. Participants must be currently enrolled as a student at an accredited high school within the Central Valley of California.
  2. Submissions must be about the theme assigned to the category; failing to do so will result in disqualification.
  3. Submissions must be a 1 to 2 minute video, a photo, or a collage of photos.
  4. The video competition and photo competition are different competitions, and will be judged separately.
  5. Individual participants are able to participate in both video and photo categories.
  6. An individual participant can submit both video and photo under the same name.
  7. For the video category, participants can choose to either work on a video individually or in a group of two or three. The video should then be submitted under an individual’s name or the group’s name respectively.
  8. For the photo category, participants can choose to either submit a photo or a collage of photos under an individual’s name.
  9. Groups are only qualified to participate in the video category, therefore submission of pictures or a collage of pictures under a group’s name will not be accepted.
  10. Members of a group working on the video can still participate in the photo competition, but they will have to work individually in the photo competition and submit the picture under their own personal name.
  11. Submissions must be original work of the participant and not of other creators. i.e. Photos submitted must be original work of the participant submitting it, and videos submitted must be original work of the individual, or original work of the group members.
  12. Submissions that are plagiarized will be rejected and disqualified.
  13. All submissions must be received between March 27, 2015, 8 a.m. PT, and April 3, 2015, 11:59 p.m. PT.
  14. Finalists will be notified by April 13, 2015.
  15. Winners of the contest will be determined by a panel of professional judges.
  16. Winners of the competition will be announced at the MCJ Week: Multimedia Day event on April 20, 2015.
  17. Recognition & prizes will be awarded to winners at the MCJ Week: Multimedia Day event on April 20, 2015.
